Increasing salon revenue in January can be a huge challenge, as we experience the post-Christmas slump and decreased consumer spending. However, there are several marketing strategies you can implement to boost salon revenue during this quieter period:
Promotions and Packages
Offer special promotions or discounted packages for January services, this can include bundled services or discounts on specific treatments. Consider creating packages that inspire your customers for January e.g. New Year – New Lashes etc.
New Year - New You Campaign
Run a ‘New Year - New You’ campaign to highlight the idea of starting the year with a fresh look or a new beauty regime. Offer consultations or special discounts for clients interested in trying new services.
January Salon Event
At the beginning of the new year, a lot of people are ready to make positive changes in their lives. Host a ‘New Year - New You’ Salon Event and encourage your clients to bring along a friend or family member. At the event, you could have live demonstrations to showcase your services and treatments, as well as introducing special offers e.g., ‘Book an Elleebana Brow Lamination & Tint for the price of an Elleebana Brow Lamination this January’ to generate client bookings during this quiet period.
You could even consider offering self-care education accompanied by a glass of bubbly. Topics might include how to apply your own makeup, establish a glowing skincare routine, and affix your own lashes for a night out, among others. Hosting a fun event at your salon could attract clients, and for a small fee, they can enjoy an exciting evening.
Collaborations and Partnerships
Partner with local businesses, such as gyms, wellness centres, yoga studios, hairdressers or clothing boutiques to cross-promote services. Offer joint promotions or exclusive discounts for clients who visit both businesses to increase client bookings in January.
Customer Loyalty Programs
Implement a loyalty program to reward repeat customers. Offer discounts or exclusive promotions for clients who book multiple appointments in January. Consider extending loyalty program benefits exclusively for the month of January to encourage repeat visits.
Upselling and Retail Sales
Train your staff to upsell services and retail products. Suggest complementary products or add-on services during appointments. Create attractive displays and promotions for retail products within your salon to encourage additional sales.
Social Media Marketing
Stay active on your social media channels during January and create engaging content to capture your existing and potential customers attention, from video tutorials, striking imagery, before and after pictures, as well as client testimonials (if you are using client pictures or testimonials, please always gain permission from your client’s before posting them on social media).
Press & PR
Invite local publications and local influencers (who have a significant following in your target market) to undertake a treatment review at your salon. This can expose your salon to a wider audience and generate interest from new customers.
Email Marketing
Send out targeted E-shots to your subscribed client base, highlighting January promotions and exclusive offers. Consider including a sense of urgency or limited-time offers to encourage immediate bookings.
By combining a mix of these strategies, you can create a comprehensive plan to increase salon revenue in January to kickstart 2024!
